Who are these 3 beautiful ladies? Supermodels? Superspies? Superheroes?
All of the above– but in their lunch hour, they are 3 dazzling musicians who make up the “Trio D’Ante Vienna”.
What are they doing here? Well, firstly, they are a lot more attractive than Igudesman & Joo! (Well, at least to us, they are.) And moreover, they are performing Joo’s composition, “The Aleksey Revolution” in several of their concert programmes this year. The first performance just took place at the Festival de Radio France in Montpellier, and that concert will be broadcasted on September 14th at 12.30 on France Musique (also online http://sites.radiofrance.fr/francemusique/accueil/)
The piece is inspired by Joo’s long-time friend and creative partner, Aleksey Igudesman, and the piece is a kind of musical portrait of Igudesman. Towards the end, Joo even uses a fragment from one of Igudesman’s early compositions, (written at 5.30am).
This is the composer’s own programme note:
He comes from Russia, his first love was Spanish, he loves Indian food and music, he wrote a sonata for violin and piano titled “The Bastard Sonata”, he performed my “Elegy” for my mother’s memorial concert, he always plays the same tune on the piano, and a few years ago, after two decades of friendship, we created a show that embraces comedy with music entitled “A Little Nightmare Music”, which we are now performing all over the world. All these elements are depicted in this piece, and the listener is taken on a little revolution through the revolutionary life of Aleksey Igudesman: violinist, composer, cook, poet, comedian, self-proclaimed expert on women and emotions, and the perfect partner in crime.
Future performances of Joo’s piece, “The Aleksey Revolution”, by the Trio d’Ante Vienna, include:
August 14: Festival de Musique de Menton, France at 18:00 (www.musique-menton.fr); October 2: Museums Quartier, Vienna; October 18: Musikverein, Vienna. For more details, please visit the trio’s website: http://www.triodante.com
(By the way, all those sizzling photos of the 3 girls were taken by our own “in-house” photographer, Julia Wesely)
